Right to work and fee status
Applicants for self-funded places are required to meet criteria for overseas fee status.
Candidates for NHS places must be acceptable to the National Health Service in an employed status, and must be eligible for home tuition fee status.

DegreeOur summary: A lower second (2:2): With a pass or above in a master’s relevant to clinical psychology.
2:1 or 1st class level degree in Psychology, recognised by the BPS for GBC
If you have a 2.2 class level degree you will also need to have a pass or above (e.g. Merit/Distinction) at Masters level in a course relevant to clinical psychology.

English language
We encourage applications from candidates whose first language is not English, but we will need to be provided with evidence of an English language proficiency such as IELTS, and with a score at level 8 (with no score below 7.5 in each test element: listening, reading, writing and speaking) or equivalent.
Please note: The University of Hertfordshire will only accept an IELTS test result, taken within the last two years.

The course states: “We are in the process of considering whether to implement an additional shortlisting stage which may include a test.”

The Clearing House separately lists Hertfordshire as considering a short-listing test or questionnaire. Applications are currently screened against minimum criteria and independently rated.

Two parts: an individual panel interview and a group task, addressing academic, research and clinical competencies, professional and personal suitability, and interpersonal skills. The aim is for everything to be rated by at least two selectors. Selection takes place between 4 and 7 May 2027, in person only at the College Lane campus for NHS-funded places.
