Lectures, conferences and online talks across psychology, neuroscience, psychedelic research and neurodiversity. Going to things is how you end up with something to say at interview that nobody else has said.

Clinical psychology and mental health
Closest to the work itself. Talks by practising clinicians are the most directly useful, and often the cheapest.
Neuroscience
Public lectures are common and usually free. Good for breadth, and for having something current to talk about.
Psychedelic research
A fast-moving area with an active UK conference scene. Breaking Convention is the largest; university research groups run smaller talks.
Neurodiversity, autism and ADHD
Increasingly central to clinical practice, and an area where lived-experience events add something the literature does not.
Therapy approaches and training
Introductory workshops in CBT, ACT, DBT, CAT and systemic practice. Worth attending one in an approach you have only read about.
Research methods and statistics
Methods workshops are often free through universities and useful for the research side of selection.
The application calendar
Applications go through the Clearing House for Postgraduate Courses in Clinical Psychology. The shape below is stable year to year, but check the Clearing House site for exact dates — they shift, and a missed deadline costs a whole cycle.
- SummerCourse entries are published, with selection criteria and numbers of places.
- AutumnThe Clearing House application opens. You select up to four courses.
- November to JanuaryApplications are distributed to courses.
- By mid-MarchCourses confirm shortlisting decisions.
- Late March to MayInterviews, which may include a written or situational judgement component.

NHS Jobs. The main route to relevant experience, and the main bottleneck.

jobs.ac.uk. Often overlooked, and usually less competitive than clinical posts.
