Before interview
The course states: “We do not conduct any short-listing tests.” Applications are double-rated on a standardised proforma covering academic performance, clinical experience, personal statement and references.
The course states it uses no short-listing test.
At interview
A 45-minute panel interview on campus with programme staff and NHS clinicians. Before it, candidates submit a video recording of their response to a question set by the Expert by Experience selection team, double-rated against standardised criteria. Both ratings determine the outcome.
- Panel interview
- Pre-recorded video response
Practice here is relevant
If you have applied here
There is no short-listing test here, so everything rests on the application form and the interview. At interview this course uses pre-recorded video response, which is the same reasoning the practice here rehearses.
What to do
- Work through the scenario practice — it rehearses weighing imperfect responses against professional standards, which is what these tasks assess.
- Read the course’s own selection page before you prepare. It is linked on this page and it is the only authority on its own process.
Practice material here reflects what research and first-hand accounts indicate these assessments are like. No course publishes its test, so nothing is confirmed and this site claims no inside knowledge. Not affiliated with Newcastle University, the Clearing House, the BPS or the HCPC.
